Antolin to Cut Internal Emissions by 60% Through Comprehensive Decarbonization Plan Developed with Schneider Electric

2025-06-05
  • The initiative aims to slash its carbon footprint, targeting a 60% reduction in absolute emissions from its own operations and a 35% cut across its entire product value chain.
  • The plan centers on three key areas: boosting energy efficiency, accelerating the adoption of renewable energy, and improving supply chain sustainability.

Burgos, Spain, June 5, 2025.- Leading automotive interiors supplier Antolin takes another step forward in its firm commitment to sustainability by partnering with Schneider Electric, a global leader in energy management and automation, to accelerate an ambitious Comprehensive Decarbonization Project that acts as a key lever to further reduce its emissions.

Schneider Electric is supporting Antolin in the development of this innovative plan, which aims to reduce the company’s absolute greenhouse gas emissions by 60% across its internal operations and by up to 35% across its product value chain by 2034. These targets are science-based and will soon be validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), which identifies and promotes innovative approaches for companies to significantly reduce emissions.

This initiative aligns with Antolin’s strategy and vision of driving a sustainable business that delivers a positive and lasting impact on society. The company integrates this commitment across its operations, within a sector—automotive—where stakeholders are increasingly focused on the journey toward a sustainable mobility future.

In this context, Antolin’s major clients have set ambitious emission reduction goals, and collaboration with suppliers is essential to achieving them. Sustainability is non-negotiable in the automotive sector, and Antolin not only embraces this responsibility but also views it as a major opportunity to lead the path toward a more sustainable future.

As part of this Comprehensive Decarbonization Project, the company is implementing a holistic decarbonization strategy—encompassing both its internal operations and the emissions generated along its product value chain—by identifying the key decarbonization levers. Antolin and Schneider Electric have developed a roadmap that supports the company’s decarbonization strategy.

The key levers contributing to decarbonization are:

  • Promoting Energy Efficiency: Energy-saving opportunities have been identified by category, analyzing the total emission reduction potential across different scenarios. This approach optimizes energy consumption and minimizes the carbon footprint. One example is the Smart Energy initiative, focused on deploying digitalization and artificial intelligence projects to enhance the energy efficiency of production sites.

  • Advancing Renewable Energy: The company is assessing the best alternatives for sourcing green energy. Antolin is leveraging two main levers in this area: guidance on Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), ensuring the best opportunities for implementation across Europe; and the use of certified renewable energy, thanks to which 23% of the electricity it uses is already renewable—a figure expected to rise in the coming years.

  • Supply Chain: Antolin is working with Schneider Electric to implement a decarbonization program across its supply chain. Identifying and prioritizing key suppliers, along with conducting surveys and assessments to measure each supplier’s sustainability maturity, are essential tools to ensure all actors in the chain contribute to emission reduction.

Antolin CEO Cristina Blanco stated: “Our work on sustainability is not only an ethical imperative but also positions us as a benchmark in the automotive industry. The collaboration with Schneider Electric enables us to move toward a more sustainable future, where innovation and environmental responsibility can effectively coexist.”

Javier Figueras, Vice President of Industrial Automation at Schneider Electric for Spain and Portugal, remarked: “We firmly believe that decarbonization is essential to contribute to a more sustainable world. Supporting Antolin in this journey makes us proud and strengthens our conviction that partnerships based on shared commitments are key to accelerating the transition to a low-emissions economy.”
